Three bikes amounting to more than £10,000 in value were stolen at the weekend from a moto-x event in Huddersfield.
The three bikes, a Honda CRF450, 2006 Kawasaki KX65 and a blue Yamaha YZ85 were stolen overnight from a van and trailer which were locked.
Two of the bikes belonged to children, and the event organiser Ian Lessitter said
“It goes without saying that the owners are devastated at the loss, especially the children. It’s becoming more common nowadays because of the recession. We haven’t felt the need before, but we will now be employing night-time security at all our meetings. At the end of the day we need the riders to feel safe and secure.”
Approximately 300 people attended the event, 200 of which were riders.
The club has put forward a £700 reward for the safe return of the bikes.
