When winter starts to take a hold on the weather, it’s time you got a hold on how to stay warm whilst out riding your motorcycle.
The following is a head to toe, inside to out, guide on how to stay warm on your motorcycle this winter.
Keep Your Extremities Well Insulated
Any motorcyclist who has endured even the mildest of cold weather will know that it’s your hands, feet and head which are the first to feel the chill.
A thick pair of winter, waterproof gloves are essential, and you cant go far wrong if you combine these with a quality pair of thermal inner gloves. Even better, you could pick up a pair of bike muffs which will keep your hands even warmer.
Likewise, for your feet we would recommend waterproof boots and a couple of pairs of thick socks, if not some thermal boot liners too.
For your head, grab a good quality balaclava, neck scarf or multi-use bandana. It goes without saying that having any vents on your helmet closed will help keep your nut warm too.

Get Some Serious Layers
Extremities aside, your torso needs to keep a good core temperature whilst riding, so you might consider coupling up a warm, waterproof winter motorcycle jacket and trousers with a set of under-clothing. For a good old fashioned style you might try a pair of silk long johns or something similar, and a silk shirt. Alternatively, if you would rather something a little more attractive, try a pair of base clothing from one of the specialised winter motorcycle gear brands.

And If You Are Still Cold?
If you are still feeling Jack Frost over your shoulder, the sure fire way to give him the boot is heated clothing.
Through a combination of heated jackets, trousers, boot insoles and gloves, you can ensure every bit of you stays warm as toast on your bike.
And it’s pretty simple too. Take for instance the Gerbing range, which plugs straight into your motorcycle battery and voila, you have warmth circulating around you.
