Jorge Lorenzo has hushed his critics by speeding away with the Indianapolis leg of the MotoGP championship.
Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Jorge took the top podium spot after his team mate (and rival) Valentino Rossi crashed out in lap 10. As well as losing his front end, Valentino now needs to be careful he doesn’t lose his Championship lead to the young Spaniard, since he halved the gap in championship points by grabbing the win.
Dani Pedrosa also crashed out during lap 4, but in good style he re-joined the race to take tenth place. Rossi tried to re-mount too, but his hope were crumpled a couple of laps later when his M1 Yamaha had problems with the throttle as a result of the crash.
Second and third place went to Alex de Angelis and Nicky Hayden respectively, the latter of which took his best finish so far for the Ducati team in front of his home crowd.
