23rd October 2011 proved an incredibly sad day for the motorcycle world.
Whilst participating in the Malaysian Moto GP, Italian Marco Simoncelli appeared to lose control of his Honda and consequently collided with fellow rider Colin Edwards and close friend Valentino Rossi. The injuries sustained from this tragic incident proved fatal, and he later passed away. Edwards and Rossi said to be completely devastated. Along with the rest of the world.
Condolences have been flooding in, dedicated to one of the biggest rising stars that the motorcycle world has experienced for some time. Tweets and Facebook messages expressing how their thoughts are with his family and friends have consumed Simoncelli’s private pages. Everyone is obviously deeply saddened and traumatised by this event. Fellow riders have also expressed their despair, not quite believing that this youthful, larger-than-life personality could be taken so suddenly; and at the tender age of just 24. Seen as a natural successor to Rossi, Valentino left the Sepang circuit too distraught to speak.
Now we at Two Wheel Centre would like to express how sorry we are for the loss of this talented guy. With an amazing career behind him and what could have been a potentially long lived one ahead, his memory is certain to not be forgotten easily.
RIP Marco Simoncelli (20/01/1987 – 23/10/2011)
