This Sunday saw the monumental Reclaim Wales campaign take place, organised by Motorcycle News (MCN), and boy, was it a success.
Over 10,000 bikers turned out for the event, held in peaceful protest of the North Wales police force, which has been stopping and questioning an increasing number of law-abiding bikers in the past months.
The protest came to action when it was revealed the every weekend the police force were stopping 400 bikers – 350 of which had no reason for being stopped.
The event was a massive success, and the North Wales force commended the thousands of bikers for their peaceful and enjoyable participation, but insisted that they were not going to change their tactics when it came to stopping bikers. The spokesman for the force said:
The event was clearly well attended, was very good natured and enjoyed by all involved [but]
North Wales Police remain committed to saving lives and reducing road death and injury through education, enforcement and engagement.
But the bikers will continue their efforts nevertheless, with MCN now presenting the new chief of the North Wales police force with individual letters of complaint from all those who have been stopped unfairly.
