Shoei are always ahead of the curve. Their most recent innovation is the scrappage of the old CX-1 visor. This has now been replaced with the super CW-1 Q.R.S.A visor system.
The CW-1 Q.R.S.A (Quick Release Self Adjusting) visor system is revolutionary, and leaves the CX-1 and all other copy cat visors in the mist.
So what is so magnificent, I hear you say?
Not only does the CW-1 offer a superior field of vision through enlarged horizontal and vertical dimensions, but it also has a rather clever way of operating. In normal systems the visor operates around a single fixed axis on either side of the helmet. However, this means that the large range of movement expected when being opened, coupled with the required flush fitting to the shell when closed presents a tough situation where compromise in design often results in a less-than-perfect visor system.
In comparison, the CW-1 operates on a coil system, where the single axis is variable. Using a spring, the visor flush fits to the exact shell shape when closed, but when opened it is able to move freely and easily in a good range of movement, and in turn this allows your Pin-lock system to sit higher and, you’ve guessed it, offer a wider field of fog-free vision when closed! Clever!
What’s more, the visor blocks nearly 100% of UV rays and has a special hard coating to further hinder scratching.
