Yamaha Price Increase Due On 18th May 2009

Yamaha R1 2009

The credit crunch has executed a crushing blow to the car industry already, and now it looks like the new bike industry may be set to follow in those tyre tracks.

Yamaha have just released a list of the price increases set to take place on the 18th May 2009 on new motorcycles and scooters. With price increases of upto £1,500, it is safe to say that new bikes have never been so expensive.

A year ago, a YZF-R1 would have cost you £9,999.00 and six months before that, only £8,999.00. From the 18th May, it will be a whopping £10,999.00. That is a price increase of £2000 in just 18 months.

And a brand new FJR1300A would have cost £11,799 before the price increase. Afterwards, a stonking £12,999.00 – an increase of £1200!

The morale of this story? Either buy second hand, or buy a new bike before the 18th of May!
