The new age of sportsbikes are here. Well, not quite, but they’re coming…
MCN’s world superbike reporter Michael Guy took the TT-winning Agni electric bike out for a test ride (read the full review in MCN September 30th) and was quite pleasantly suprised.
Once you get your head around the lack of noise and lack of engine braking, the Agni bike becomes enjoyable.
The Agni bike, which won the single lap electric bike class at the TT earlier this year with a top speed of 79mph, uses the frame of a standard GSX-R750, alongside the forks, wheels and brakes. But this is not always advantageous, as Guy explains:
Riding precisely, using fast flowing lines, it’s possible to be fast – though ultimately it’s a GSX-R750 with the equivalent of 70bhp that weighs well over 200kg so it’s nowhere near as quick as a standard GSX-R.
