As the winters get worse, Gerbing heated clothing just keeps getting better.
This week sees the arrival of the Gerbing XR12 Heated Gloves in the UK. Building on the already exceptional range of Gerbing heated gloves, the XR12 offers more protection on top of market-leading heat technology.
So, what’s so good about the XR12 gloves?
Well, firstly, they benefit from the same Microwire heat technology as used throughout the Gerbing range. This Microwire technology is guaranteed for life.
However, then take into account that the XR12 gloves also benefit from concealed knuckle armour. This is the first Gerbing glove to incorporate such armour, with all previous models only having padded knuckles. This is clearly one major benefit to the XR12 gloves. Protection is further increased by additional finger protection – also previously unseen on earlier Gerbing gloves.
Last, but by no means least, the XR12 gloves also feature Kevlar fibres throughout the palm and finger area. This high-spec material, known for it’s incredible strength and abrasion resistance, is normally used in top end leather race gloves, but now you can have all that protection in a quality, warm winter glove.
Do I need to buy any hidden extras?
Absolutely not! The XR12 gloves come with all the wiring required to run the gloves from the bike battery immediately. You don’t need
to buy anything else, but should you wish, you can then accessorise upwards with an array of extension cables, switches, temperature controls etc etc.
And what if I buy/already have a Gerbing heated jacket liner?
The XR12 gloves will simply plug straight into the connectors on the cuffs of the jacket. You will need a splitter cable (£8.50), so that when the connection comes from the battery of the bike, you can plug the power into both the jacket and gloves connections at the waistband of the jacket. Hey, presto! You have heat travelling around your torso and hands!
What about if I want portable batteries for the gloves?
The portable batteries are an optional extra (£85.99 for two batteries and a charger). If you purchase these, they simply tuck away into the purpose-built pockets on the cuffs of the XR12 or Hybrid gloves. You’ll then have portable heat, available on three different temperature settings. Easy, warm and oh so convenient!
