Hit And Run Motorcycle Accident In Nottingham

Seventy-four year old motorcyclist Geoff Smith felt the brunt of a hit and run accident last week, leaving him vowing never the ride a motorcycle again.

Riding his Suzuki through Sneinton in Nottingham, Mr. Smith collided with the silver Vauxhall Vectra when the lady driver pulled out from a junction and drove straight into his path. Flung over the bonnet of the car Mr. Smith recalls landing on his shoulder, hitting his head in the process, before feeling an intense pair coming from his legs. He says:

“Then a woman’s head appeared and she just said ‘I’m sorry, you didn’t see me’. I said, ‘You didn’t see me because you didn’t look…Then the ambulance came and one of the paramedics said she had driven off.”

Clearly still reeling from disbelief that the driver left him ‘not knowing whether [he] was going to die’, Mr. Smith can now expect to be wheelchair bound for 8 weeks while the injury to his knee heals, as well as a cast on his arm.

The lady driver is described as white with shoulder-length blonde hair and probably in her late 20s or early 30s. She was around 5ft 6ins tall and of a slim build.

Anyone who can provide information about the identity of the car driver should telephone PC Craig McLoughlin or Insp Mick Hilton on 0115 9670999 ext 2216.
