Lets Say ‘Ciao Simoncelli’ with a ‘Minute of Noise’

As we all know, the motorcycle world was hit hard last week when millions of viewers witnessed Marco Simoncelli involved in an appalling crash whilst competing in the Malaysian Grand Prix. A traumatic event which sadly proved fatal.

Family and friends were inconsolable and mourners offering their condolences flooded in from every part of the world – Marco obviously touching millions of people with his charismatic and larger-than-life personality. The guy who bought fun and excitement and plenty of new followers to the world of racing.

The final round of the MotoGP season is due to take place this weekend at Valencia, and instead of the traditional ‘minutes silence’, Paolo Simoncelli (Marcos father) has requested a ‘minutes noise‘ instead.

Simoncelli was far from quiet and never seemed to take life too seriously (or follow by the rules for that matter) but on the track his whole heart and soul went into his riding, taking every oppurtunity he got. So it seems only fitting that like his father, he too, would have preferred to see “a minute of total chaos”. The engines of all the bikes from the 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP grids all will be participating in this noisy tribute to the youthful Simoncelli.

After initial talks that his Gresini Honda team would pull out of the final in respect to Marco this weekend, they have decided to take their place in the line up. Realising the best way to show their affection and to honour Marco by doing what he loved most.

What is certain, is that Marco will be in the forefront of everyones minds this weekend. The ‘minute of chaos’ representing Simoncelli exactly the way he would want us to remember him.
