How the Hit-Air safety vest works
The Hit-Air range uses cutting-edge technology which has been lab-tested, is CE certified and is used by motorcycle and mounted police around the world. Hit-Air safety vests are popular with horse riders and motorcyclists alike for their unprecedented protection of the whole upper body. Hit-Air has the only airbag vest range that protects your chest, ribs, back, spine, neck and internal organs with built-in airbags. The airbags are inflated using a small CO2 gas canister, which hides inside a pocket of the vest. The vest can be re-used as many times as you need it (providing the airbag isn’t damaged) by simply changing the canister. Check out our handy guide on how to change a gas canister.
The Hit-Air gas canister is triggered by a lanyard, which you can attach to your bike anywhere on the frame. If (God forbid!) you come off the bike in an accident, the force of the fall will activate the airbags. The Hit-Air safety vests inflate in only 0.25 seconds, which is faster than the blink of an eye. Don’t worry about accidentally blowing up at the petrol station- it’s almost impossible to trigger the airbags manually, as they only respond to a 35kg force. This really is a clever bit of gear!
How to wear the Hit-Air safety vest
You can wear a Hit-Air safety vest however you like: you can add extra armour, wear it with other protectors and adjust the lanyard and fit to suit you and your bike. You might think that all that body protection would weigh you down- actually, you’ll be surprised by how comfortable and lightweight the Hit-Air range is. The vest sits close to your body and the airbags inflate outwards, meaning less chance of you being winded and a better fit. The inflatable panels are all tucked away when riding, so you’ll never feel any parts of the vest getting caught in the wind or snagged on your bike. You’ll hardly notice that you have the vest on, but it could just save your life.
