Outlast®, what’s Outlast® when it’s fitted inside a motorcycle jacket?

The Outlast® technical lining is unique to the Weise Outlast® Baltimore four season motorcycle jacket. Outlast® is a technical, body-temperature-regulating lining system developed by NASA. The lining can absorb heat from your body, store it and release it to regulate the micro-climate of your body when needed. If you’re riding on a warm day and the sun’s rays are pouring down, your body will become warmer. The Outlast® liner will absorb the warmth and store it for later. As the sun then slides behind a cloud and temperatures dwindle, your body will cool down. The Outlast® liner will release some of the stored heat to raise your temperatures right back up again.

The Weise Outlast® Baltimore Jacket will regulate your body temperature. This will reduce the likelihood of you experiencing extreme changes in body temperature. No more mid-ride jacket switching! It’s also unique to other four season motorcycle jackets in the way it keeps you dry. Many other jackets manage moisture by drawing perspiration away from the skin. The Outlast® technical liner goes a step ahead by preventing the wearer’s likelihood of perspiring at all.

How about the other features?

The 500 denier, protective, nylon outer has various pockets and ventilation points. The vents work in combination with the Outlast® liner to regulate your body temperature on a ride. The two chest vents, disguised as pockets, can be unzipped to reveal red mesh lining. The pocket opening can be clipped back with metal poppers, to allow cool air into the jacket. The sides of the jacket, at the front and rear, have more hidden, zipped, perforated red vents too.

Ensuring your body is comfortable through regulating the temperature is as much about comfort as it is safety. If you’re too warm or cool you could become uncomfortable and distracted during a ride. Beyond comfort, it’s important to keep the vulnerable parts of your body protected in case of an accident. The Weise Outlast® Baltimore Jacket does this with armour to shield you against abrasion and impact. The armour’s fitted at the core points of the upper body – the shoulders, elbows and back – all CE approved.

The jacket has a Reissa® waterproof and windproof lining which is removable when required. If the weather is wet or you’re likely to be riding in windy conditions, this will shield you from the damp and chilling effects of both. As we all know, England is likely to be rainy and blowy all year-round. This further supports the Weise Outlast® Baltimore Jacket as a four season motorcycle jacket.

The sleeves, as demonstrated in the image above, have yellow fluorescent lower arm sleeves. The sleeves offer added visibility whilst riding at night or in low light conditions.

Are there any other Outlast® products in the range?

Weise have also designed the Weise Outlast Diablo Waterproof Gloves and the Weise Outlast Strada Waterproof Gloves in Black / Neon Yellow or black which can be teamed with the Weise Outlast® Baltimore Jacket for a complete temperature-regulating upper body outfit.
