Weise Textile Jeans: A buyer’s guide

Weise are a British brand offering a wide selection of high-quality, functional and protective motorcycle gear, if you aren’t in the know about their products, our brief introductory post has more information to get you started.

Buying motorcycle trousers is an expensive, often timely but highly necessary activity as a biker. Although the law only requires that bikers wear a helmet to keep them safe on the road, we highly recommend investing in more. Of course it’s important to protect your head, but your legs can be just as vulnerable – for the possibility of road rash, broken bones and pulled muscles. In addition to the safety features, trousers often include additional functional components that have been designed with riders’ needs in mind and so work to make your riding both more comfortable and enjoyable. Weise are a British brand, known and highly-regarded by their users for producing excellent quality, protective motorcycle clothing for male and female riders including jackets, jeans and gloves through to unisex armour and garment care. This post offers customers an insight into the trousers they produce and an explanation of their protective features:

What type of jeans do Weise sell?

Weise sell three types of jeans designed for bikers:

What features do Weise trousers have for bikers?

Each of the trousers in the Weise collection are different, boasting a variety of different features and benefits. Here’s a breakdown of some features to look out for, and how they will benefit the rider.

  • ISOTEX™ waterproof, windproof and breathable drop lining: Weise have carefully selected ISOTEX™ as the material for their drop lining for it’s three primary performance factors.
    1. Wateproof: The waterproof property of the material is durable and keeps water out. This will keep your body dry from outside wet and moisture so that you aren’t wet and uncomfortable whilst out on a ride.
    2. Windproof: The windproof property of the ISOTEX™ works to eliminate windchill, which can again cause you to become cold, uncomfortable and distracted whilst riding.
    3. Breathable: When you become warm whilst riding and your skin becomes moist, the breathable fabric moves the water vapour out through the fabric to keep you comfortable.weise-avance-mens-black-textile-trousers
  • Removable thermal lining: Having a thermal lining is fantastic to keep your legs warm and insulated whilst riding. Weise have designed this to be removable on trousers such as the Titan Sport style, so that users can choose whether to wear them in the summer (without the liner) or winter (with the liner).
  • CE approved armour: The armour available with Weise textile jeans usually covers both the hips and knees. The armour is strong and comfortable as it moulds to fit the shape of the individual rider’s body. The armour is removable, however, we recommend wearing it whilst riding as it offers a high level of protection for two highly vulnerable parts of the leg. When washing the jeans it is necessary to remove this.
  • Raised back: At the waist of many Weise jeans is a raised piece of material to the lower back. This has a twofold benefit: firstly, it ensures the rider’s lower back is covered in the event of an accident; secondly, it can be zipped to a Weise (or other brand where available) motorcycle jacket to retain heat and keep the back insulated, in addition to it being more securely protected.
  • 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective stripes: The reflective stripes are thicker on styles such as the Weise Avance but subtly incorporated into the design of styles such as the Onyx where they are barely noticeable during the day, but strategically placed to capture the light from a car headlamp at night.
  • Comfort stretch panel: Just above the knee of some trousers is a small stretch paneled area, designed to give you space to move and flex your leg whilst riding. This is designed as a comfort and safety feature, as having free movement of your knee will reduce the stress on your body whilst riding, therefore reducing your capacity to be distracted.
  • Zipper and velcro® fastening to ankle: There is a zipper just to the outside of the ankle which can be opened and closed to easily put on and take off rider boots. An additional, secure velcro® fastening is incorporated on the outside to ensure the zips remain securely closed.
  • YKK® zips:YKK® (Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushiki Gaisha) are a Japanese zip manufacturer and the largest producer of this item in the world. All of the Weise trousers incorporate trusted and highly-regarded YKK® zips into their design.
