Since its release back in 2011, the HJC RPHA 10 helmet range really has gone from strength to strength and 2016 is shaping up to be another successful year. It’s been such a strong helmet the RPHA 10 is no longer around and HJC have introduced the updated versions, the RPHA 10+ and HJC RPHA 11.
You really cannot appreciate this helmet fully until you hold one in your hands. That is, until you wear one on your head. The thing that first strikes you about the RPHA 10 + is how incredibly lightweight the helmet is. At only 1200g (+/-50g for each larger shell size), the HJC RPHA 10 + weighs in at over 200g lighter than the Shoei X-Spirit II (1450g) – how remarkable is that! The HJC RPHA 11 isn’t much heavier with only 1300 grams to its build.
Is it a comfortable wear?
The second thing that impresses about this helmet once it is on your head, it’s a comfortable fit. This is down to the plush, luxurious interior of Silvercool® fabric. The Silvercool® fabric sits inside the entire RPHA 10+ / 11 range. The material has self-cooling properties, an anti-bacterial treatment for ultimate comfort and wicks away moisture.
Comfort of the wearer is further enhanced with a removable chin-curtain and breath deflector. There’s also help for glasses wearers. In the comfort stakes the helmet has glasses grooves to reduce the temple pressure of the rider.
The HJC RPHA 10+ and 11 are also user friendly. The visor and air vents are all easy to open and use even with gloves on. What’s more the RHPA 10+ and 11 comes with a clear visor as standard. Also included in the box with every helmet is a 2D tinted visor (road legal for daytime use). The visor on the RPHA 10+ and 11 is also fitted with a automatic locking system with spring controlled lever.
What about the visor usability?
The HJC RPHA 10+ or 11 also has a PinLock visor insert included with each helmet. The visors all have tear-off posts ready for the use of tear off strips. The HJC RPHA 10+ has the RapidFire Shield Replacement system. This enables ultra-quick removal and installation of the visor, without using tools.
Beyond the safety and comfort features there’s the design. The helmet features superior aerodynamics – wind tunnel tested. The integrated rear spoiler, also wind tested, ensures stability on a track. It also helps to extract warm air through the rear, exhaust vents. This results in smooth airflow for low wind resistance, reduced wind noise and improved ventilation. So not only is it abundantly clear that the HJC RPHA 10+ is super safe, comfortable and well-equipped, it looks fantastic too.
Which models form part of the range?
These are available in a choice of sizes (XS-XL), colours and graphics. These include the HJC RPHA 10+ Lorenzo Sparteon, the HJC RPHA 10+ Zappy and the slightly lower priced HJC RPHA 10+ Lorenzo Indy. Moving up to the 11 you could order home HJC RPHA 11 Eridano or a HJC RPHA 11 EPIK Trip. The HJC RPHA 10+ or 11 are both an excellent choice if you’re in the market for a new helmet this year. An ultra-lightweight, superior comfort and stylish choice. They’re also, of course, well made and a safe choice!
