Eighteen Year Old Mansfield Champ is moving on up through the motorcycle championship leagues to Superstock 600
Following Taz’s successful performances in the HEL Performance Motostar Championship last year (2015), he’s moved up yet another class to join the Superstock 600 Championship. A new challenge for Taz means more opportunity to improve and boost his riding skills. From racing a 250 Moto3 to straddling a 600cc Yamaha, he’s moved himself up quite a few engine size notches. Check out his story here.
Beginning the new championship where the old one ended Taz debuted his 600cc at the Silverstone GP. As no stranger to racing under pressure and excitement Taz didn’t let his reputation down, being the fastest rider in the earlier laps. His speed didn’t take him to the podium but he finished fantastically in sixth.
His teammate, Aussie Ben Currie, didn’t make it to the start line, sadly crashing out in the qualifying rounds. But, with a positive history, he’s competition for our Taz this season.
Taz felt accomplished, “The race was a lot of fun and I was able to run with the leading group. I’m really happy with how the weekend went…” after he’d placed in sixth. This must have helped his optimistic outlook for Oulton Park in May, “I’m going to do all I can to make sure I’m ready for Oulton.”
Taz is such a hard-working rider and we’re proud to sponsor his Superstock 600 efforts and be a part of his continued triumphs! Please check back here after each race of the season for an update on how our local champ’s getting on. We’ve also got race reports from previous seasons archived in our blog, please have a snoop for a read up on his history.
A huge shout out to Pace Dayz for the photo and updates on Taz’s performance.
