Suzuki’s 2017 range is bigger and better than ever – come and take a sneaky peek!

Here’s the lowdown…
There have been a lot of changes in the Suzuki range this year, and of course this includes a fleet of shiny new bikes for you to get your hands on in 2017. This blog is your handy guide to the latest bikes from Suzuki.
All of these new models are on the New Suzuki Bikes part of our website for you to zoom in on the finer details. We’re taking pre-orders now for all of the new bikes out next year – so if something takes your fancy, register your interest before they fly out of the door.
But for now, let’s dive right in and find out what’s new!
King of the Sport Bikes
The new Suzuki GSX-R1000R is a serious contender in the ever-escalating race for the ultimate sports bike. We wrote about the developing GSX-R L7 in this blog post last year, but we’ve had more details since then – and we’re very, very excited to see this bike for real.
Suzuki have taken their popular sports bike and poured two more years of MotoGP expertise into it. The Suzuki Ecstar race team have gifted so much new tech to the GSX-R that it’s as close as you can get to hitching a ride with Maverick Vinales.
This GSX-R comes in two flavours, a full-on racing beast or a tamer animal you can take for a ride anytime. The ‘R’ version is more track-focused, with a bit of extra tech and more advanced Showa suspension. The road-going GSX-R1000 would still hold its own on a track day, mind you!
The GSX-R1000R is the crowning glory of the Suzuki bikes 2017 range. As soon as one comes rolling into our showroom we’re certain it will shoot right out of the door – so get your pre-order in now and get out on the track!
A GSX-R for everyone
Suzuki have made the GSX-R range into a proper family this year. The new GSX-R1000 and the 750 and 600 versions are now joined by a GSX-R125 – yes, you read that right, a 125cc sport bike!
This long-awaited addition to Suzuki’s sports range allows beginners to get their foot in the door and catch the GSX-R bug early. It’s sporty alright, with the best power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in its class.
It’s also got some quality touches to mark out its place in the GSX-R range. Behind the MotoGP-inspired fairings, this bike really is a mini race bike with DNA passed down from its elders. Expect whip-smart handling, a bit of race tech and a sporty riding position.
Introducing the GSX250R
Now, this one is a bit of a hybrid. The GSX250R might sound like it belongs in the GSX-R hierarchy, but Suzuki have made some subtle distinctions.
It’s sporty on the outside, available in Suzuki Ecstar livery (pictured). But this is firmly a street bike, aimed at the urban rider. It boasts class-leading fuel economy (a quoted 298 miles per tank), and higher bars for a more comfortable riding position.
If you need to tackle city traffic but want something a little more punchy and exciting than your run-of-the-mill commuter, this might be the bike for you.
GSX-S range expanded
First roaring onto the scene last year, the GSX-S1000 combined a powerful GSX-R engine with light, naked bodywork to create a formidable street bike. To celebrate this winning combination, Suzuki have created two new smaller capacity models to make the GSX-S accessible to everyone.
The new GSX-S750 and its blacked-out shadow the GSX-S750Z Phantom (pictured) are about as aggressive as it gets. If Batman had a bike, it would certainly come from the GSX-S family. Taking their styling cues from the 1000, these bikes are definitely lookers. But it’s not just a pretty face…
The GSX-S750 uses the K5 GSX-R750 engine, giving it much more bite: it’s got 7 extra horses pulling at 10500rpm compared to the outgoing GSR750. With a quoted 57.6mpg, it’s pretty efficient too. Suzuki have also thrown in some of the latest tech for good measure – as if you needed an extra incentive!
Another treat for beginners
Suzuki have deliberately targeted the smaller capacity market again with the GSX-S125, a less flashy option than its GSX-R cousin. It strikes a fine balance between sport and street, with eager acceleration and impressive power-to-weight. With just 133kg kerb weight, Bosch ABS and Suzuki’s Easy Start System, this is a mean but manageable first bike or commuter.
V-Strom gets a makeover
Suzuki’s popular V-Strom range are capable but exciting adventure bikes, perfect for your summer touring. Now they’ve been revamped for 2017, with a focus on cleaner bodywork. The new ‘beak’ and ‘Champion Yellow’ colours celebrate Suzuki’s off-road competition success.
Shedding all the fancy special editions, Suzuki have gone back to basics with the 2017 V-Strom 1000. The new XT version (pictured) sports striking gold wheel rims, hand guards and under cowling as standard. The 1000 now has clever cornering ABS and a streamlined windscreen, as well as the one-touch start system seen on the Suzuki sports bike range.
It’s a similar story with the V-Strom 650 and its counterpart the 650XT; the latter gets wire-spoke wheels, under cowling and hand guards. The V-Strom 650 has been given an extra dose of power, a look that mirrors the 1000, traction control and a new exhaust.
A new arrival in the V-Strom family
The V-Strom 250 is yet another compact offering from Suzuki, opening up the unmistakeable character of the V-Strom to everyone. The advantage of a 250cc with its parallel twin focusing on the low and mid range? It’s easier to chuck about off road, of course!
Seriously though, this bike is much lighter and easier to handle than its larger relatives, meaning you might just open up some new adventures. With the familiar rugged lines and its own distinctive ‘beak’, it looks pretty smart too.
A boosted Burgman 400
The 2017 Burgman 400 has gone on a diet, shedding some of the bulk to reveal a slimmer, more modern machine. Even the ABS unit is lighter. New LED headlights and a wind-tested screen refresh the look, with lighter bodywork built onto a more stable frame.
More power, stronger torque and fuel injection mean that this isn’t just a superficial change. Handling, storage and security have also been given a new lease of life, taking this maxi scooter to the next level.
