Were you following along with our regular BSB Championship updates of the speedfighting, nail-biting 2015 season? Are you hungry for more riding mayhem? If you weren’t and would like a quick catch-up our blog’s lined with racing round-up posts following BSB and MotoGP races through the season, alongside those of the local Moto3 racer, Taz Taylor.

As we’re nearing our farewells to the off-season we thought we’d remind you of the first 2016 BSB Championship ride. The racers will take to Silverstone on the 9/10th April to warm up their wheels on the first official race of the 2016 season. This follows their pre-season British tests at Silverstone and Donington, following the races in exotic Cartagena.

As we’re still shaking off the Winter blues and Spring is in bloom, both Shakey Byrne and Stuart Easton noted the Silverstone track is cold, though felt optimistic for the season ahead.

So what’s the buzz for the new BSB season?

Laverty battled forward from his final position of fourth in the championship standings last season to a competitive, exciting, numero uno at Donington. Shakey was anything but wobbly when he raced, a spectacle of speed as he remained top through the final ride, Until Laverty snatched it away and won the top podium. Laverty commented, “it feels good to end the test fastest as it is a bit of bragging rights before the first round if nothing else. We are in a really good position and my one off lap isn’t my strength at the moment, so to have done the times we have consistently is great as I don’t feel we have maximised the potential at all yet.” Is his confidence a smidge premature? Could this cross the line into cocky and cost him in races to come? All in good racing time…

Linny Linfoot wasn’t up to his usual speed and ended lower down the rankings in sixth at the official Silverstone test, ahead of Aussie time-equal for most of the warm-ups, Jason O’Halloran. Though later at Donington the table positions switched and Jason clambered back up higher.

Kiyonari, riding for Bennetts Suzuki, made a speedy comeback in the first Silverstone test, finishing first. Though this wasn’t a consistent finish for the following races, it’s still a potential sign of a brighter season for the adored, three-time BSB champion.
