Power Generating Motorcycle Helmets – Whatever Next?

Always up for bringing you the wierd and wonderful stories of the motorcycle world, we just knew we couldn’t let this one get away.

There are no pictures, but if you have a vivid imagination you will definitely be amused.

Taiwanese students at Cheng Shiu University designed the power generating helmets by attaching five small generator fans on to the helmet. Of course, when the motorcycle moves off, the fans catch in the wind, and ke-bang! You have electricity!

Transferred through Bluetooth, the electricity is supposedly strong enough to power the headlight and rear light of a scooter, as well as indicators and brake lights on the actual helmet (that would be a very busy helmet!). Additionally, there are batteries embedded in the helmet which store remaining power for later use.

Undoubtedly, a very clever invention which would help to save our planet, though it just might give you neck ache in the meantime.
