The Sidi 2016 range is now on our website – including two new Sidi boots!
Every Sidi boot is special. Italian craftsmanship, attention to detail and unmistakeable quality are guaranteed wherever you see the Sidi logo. What we like about Sidi is that they strive to give customers what they want and need, constantly bringing out new boots and expanding their unique high-tech features to the entire range.
This year, the Italian brand have filled some gaps in their mid range, with a new dual-purpose waterproof option and a younger sibling to the Crossfire 2 pro level MX boots. These two new boot beauties are the Sidi Deep Rain waterproof boots and the Sidi Xtreme SRS boots. Below, we’ve devoted some time to our take on these new Sidi boots…
Sidi Deep Rain Boots
If we were pushed to describe these boots in three words, we’d say they were flexible, lightweight, and weather-proof. They’re not the most protective, but they do have great on and off road sense. They’re less armoured and bulky than the top end Adventure Gore boots, have a slightly less breathable membrane (Tepor to be precise) and use Technomicro for a durable, breathable outer.
With less armour comes more flexibility, with large flex areas to help you walk, ride and wade through mud with no problems. Your feet will be snuggly, too, with a plush mesh liner which keeps some air flowing and banishes sweat away from your skin quickly.
The Tepor lining is totally waterproof, even in – you guessed it – deep rain! If you’re an ADV rider who literally likes to get stuck in (to the mud) then these boots are for you.
Other nifty features include: a suede heat shield to avoid nasty exhaust burns, and a good size reflective panel on the heel to advertise your presence on evening rides. Sidi have also kindly made the calf adjustable to suit you, and thrown in some high-tech adjustable cam lock buckles for good measure. That’s a lot of bang for your buck!
Don’t forget! All of our Sidi 2016 range (excluding off-road) comes under the Sidi Free Spend scheme. When you buy the Sidi Deep Rain boots, you can nab yourself a tidy £40 to spend in store or online. Not bad, eh?
Sidi Xtreme SRS Boots
Now, here’s another treat for all you ADV and off road fanatics. Can’t quite stretch to a pair of Crossfire 2 boots? Want something all-day comfortable with less bulk? You are in luck.
The Sidi Xtreme SRS boots are a little less high-spec than their older siblings, but are absolutely every bit as good for most off road competitive and leisure riding.
Featuring less armour than the Crossfire 2 boots, the Xtreme SRS boots still have a heck of a lot of TPU. Wraparound protection on all of the foot’s vulnerable areas keeps you safe no matter how ‘extreme’ the ride is (see what Sidi did there?)
Dual recessed stitching and cam-lock buckles anchored with TPU keep everything where it’s supposed to be, making a boot to cherish for many muddy seasons.
The Vertebra exoskeleton and slimline ankle hinges make these boots flexible and as light as can be, working with the natural movement of the foot and giving uninterrupted contact with the bike. Like the Deep Rain, they also feature a large suede grip panel which doubles as a heat shield.
You really can wear these boots as long as you like, with a honeycomb Teflon mesh keeping some nice fresh air around your feet. Sidi have used their customary Cambrelle® liner further up the leg, to draw away sweat and keep the boots breathable.
These aren’t just fair-weather boots, they’re designed to last. The SRS sole replacement system means that it’ll take you a long time to wear out your new boots. When the sole kicks the bucket, replace it – piece of cake. If you want a supermoto or pure MX sole, you’ve got it. Just because the Xtreme SRS boots are less expensive than the Crossfire 2’s, doesn’t mean they’re any less of a long-term investment.
Sidi have also produced the Xtreme boots in a non-SRS version, shaving a substantial £40 off the price and giving ADV riders an even more affordable option. The Xtreme SRS currently comes in two colours: Fluo Orange / Black and Fluo Yellow / Black. Fingers crossed for more colours soon!
