A few weeks ago, two of our lovely ladies here at Two Wheel Centre – Abi Scott and Jess Scott, were fortunate enough to make the long trip down to Goodwood for a fun-filled (and sun-filled) day at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
They were very eager to get down there, not only to enjoy the day, but also to meet up with our TaylorMade Racing friends – John Keogh (pictured here with Abi) and Paul Taylor – (Paul had travelled all the way over from America for the event). The aim of the visit was to showcase their innovative new creation the Carbon2 to the general public for the very first time.
As you may recall, I blogged about the Carbon2 a few weeks back and as we were are all so impressed by this cutting-edge contender for the Moto 2 class, we just HAD to see it with our own eyes.
Not only was the Carbon2 making its debut public appearance at Goodwood, it was also John’s first chance to have a run-out around a track on his co-creation so it was a very exciting time for all involved. John thoroughly enjoyed his time on the bike and the public showed much interest in TaylorMade’s new creation all leading to a very successful show for the TaylorMade team and well worth the trip!
Although the girls weren’t able to have a ride on the Carbon2 themselves, Abi did manage to have a sit on the one-of-a-kind machine, whose main unique feature is its all-carbon fibre monocoque chassis, and was very impressed.
Abi told me that what struck her most about the design of the Carbon2 was just how narrow the construction of the body was for ultra-aerodynamics and that when run in the paddock, it certainly attracted a crowd!
Sadly we weren’t able to see the bike in action ourselves as John was not able to ride it on the day we were there, but he has kindly sent us video footage of himself and the Carbon2 in action which we will post on Facebook over the next few days.
Although the bike is eligible for entry in to the Moto 2 category, what John and Paul really set out to do when they created the Carbon2 was highlight just how creative you can be with bike design and carbon fibre. It is obviously a real passion for these guys and we think they have certainly proved a point. And hopefully they will inspire others in the world of Moto 2 to get out of their comfort zones slightly in a class which is supposedly free from limitations.
So on the whole a superb weekend all-round and a great day out for Abi and Jess. I know they really appreciated the time John and Paul spent with them and we thank them for all the information and pictures they have provided us since they returned from the festival.
